Alexis Manshack
Stage III Left Breast Invasive Ductal Carcinoma
Alexis is a lifelong Westbank resident, a graduate of Edna Karr and the LSU School of Nursing, and she currently works as the school nurse at L.B. Landry High School. Alexis has been married to her husband, Michael, for 11 years. She has two children: her stepdaughter, Mirielle, and her son, Miles.
In November 2018, at the age of 32, Alexis was diagnosed with stage III left breast invasive ductal carcinoma. She underwent 8 rounds of chemotherapy, a left mastectomy, 36 radiation treatments, and reconstructive surgeries between 2018 and 2020. After a routine follow-up mammogram in July 2022, a new mass in the right breast identified as cancerous. Further testing found another cancerous mass in the left reconstructed breast and multiple cancerous spots in her spine, pelvis, and ribs. Her current treatment includes chemotherapy with surgery, radiation, and oral chemotherapy in the future. Despite receiving some of the worst news any cancer survivor wants to hear, Alexis is very hopeful and faithful that God will take care of her.
