Mya Cullum

Acute Promyelocytic

Mya is a 29-year-old who lives with her partner, Robert Kulpa. She is a loving and devoted mother to 18-month-old Grayson. After being healthy her whole life, her cancer was caught in routine labs being run when she was being treated for pregnancy related problems. On February 7, 2022, she was diagnosed with Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia and started treatment immediately at Tulane Medical Center. While receiving treatment, she suffered two strokes and stayed in the hospital for 2 months. She started her 5th cycle of daily chemotherapy and is grateful for whatever extra time the chemotherapy gives her with her family and friends but is hoping for complete molecular remission and to one day be cured. When she is able to go back to work in the future, she plans to go into a career that will help people in some way. Frustrated with the lack of information or support for AYA (adolescent, young adult/ 15-39 y/o) cancer patients she would really like to either work with or create a local program that puts together resources for AYA cancer survivors.
