Todd Barlow
Astrocytoma (WHO grade II)
Todd is married to Sherry, the father of Logan and, stepfather of Alexis, and the grandfather of 3. He was with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office from 1987-1993 then spent over 20 years in the oil and gas industry. In April of 2011, Todd was experiencing headaches and the middle of the night wife awoke to Todd having a seizure after which he lost consciousness. An emergency room x-ray revealed the presence of a brain tumor. Diagnostic scans a day later confirmed a large primary brain tumor taking up more than half his brain). Three days later, Todd had a biopsy resulting in an Astrocytoma diagnosis (WHO grade II). Todd sought a second opinion at MD Anderson. The second opinion resulted Todd undergoing a craniotomy followed by 2 years of oral chemo. Tumor activity remained at bay for 2 years before new growth was discovered; Todd then had 6 weeks of isolated radiation. Things remained “stable” until 2018 when he had a brain resection followed by another few years of no activity until earlier this year. Not only was there growth, but it was in a new spot raising more concerns. In April of 2022, Todd had his fourth brain surgery, a L.I.T.T. procedure at MD Anderson and radiation. Todd is now on an oral chemo regimen that will take him into April of 2023. Todd continues to travel to Houston every 12 weeks for diagnostic scans, lab work, and cognitive tests as he has for the last 11 years. Despite it all, Todd has remained determined to fight for his family and friends. He has joked over the years that when the world comes to an end there will be 3 things left on earth: cockroaches, Cher and Todd Barlow.
